Getting To Know Dan Henderson [VIDEO]

Nevada State Athletic Commission- Steroid Use Is For Cowards

This is a quote from the NSAC’s Executive Director Keith Kizer on the use of Steroids:

“The reason they do it is because usually they’re the underdog, or they don’t have enough confidence in themselves. They’re cowards. They’re cheaters, so they go in there thinking oh my God I’m going to lose. How am I going to feed my family if I lose? Or here’s my chance to be world champion, let me use steroids, or I want to retain my title so I use steroids. We’ve had all these situations, so I don’t think they lost because they used steroids. I think they used steroids because they’re losers.” Source

While I can agree with him somewhat his words are rather harsh. What say you?

Houston Alexander v. Alessio Sakara at UFC 75

I have been eagerly waiting the return of Houston Alexander since his last knock-out performance against Keith Jardine who is slated to fight Liddell next.  I guess I can understand them matching Alexander up with Alessio Sakara as they need to build him a bit more fan knowledge and let everyone know who he is before giving him larger names to fight.  This will be a very interesting fight and I’m super curious as to where the fight odds will lay on this one.

Babalu- If I Lose Again I’m Done!

I keep forgetting that Babalu is on the card for UFC 74.  I really like to watch this guy fight because I think he is one of the true passion players in the UFC.  But his recent quote definelty does sum up what he has to do.  Read the recent news from the UFC below:

For some fighters, the Octagon is the only place where they can truly find peace. No matter what happens in their lives before the bell rings, whatever drama they’re dealing with outside the cage, a fight is a fight and everything else takes a back seat for those 15 or 25 minutes or less.

But for Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral, the UFC’s Octagon has been anything but a sanctuary for him in his last two fights, as he was stopped in the first round by Chuck Liddell last August, and then suffered a second straight defeat when Jason Lambert knocked him out in the second round at UFC 68 in March. On August 25th, he will try to avoid a third loss in a row when he takes on David Heath at UFC 74 in perhaps the most pivotal bout of his eight year career.

“It’s a very important fight because I have to step away from my losses and I have to come back stronger,” said Sobral. “I’ve lost twice, and if I lose again, I’m pretty much done. It’s almost like a title shot.”  Read the rest
